"description": "Step into history with a guided tour of the F. Holland Day House, a stunning Victorian home nestled in Norwood, Massachusetts. Visitors can explore the beautifully preserved rooms, admire period furnishings, and learn about Day's contributions to the arts and literature. The house itself, built in 1859, stands as a testament to 19th-century architecture and the cultural richness of the era.\nWe are excited to also share a new exhibit at the Day House, 1776 - What Survives. The focus is on Norwood's Witness Houses, the handful of remaining structures that were standing when the American Revolution occurred, as well as other artifacts in our collection from that time.",

"description": "The society's fall meeting will celebrate our neighboring town's 375th Anniversary. Medfield educator and historian Richard DeSorgher, presenting “The Growth of a Small New England Town: Medfield 1651 to Present.”\n\nLike Norwood, Medfield was originally part of the Dedham land grant of 1636 and was the first community to form its own separate town, incorporated in 1651. It was the place of pivotal events in King Philip's War, played a role in the underground railroads, and became an industrial hub for companies producing hats, boots, nails, and forks. \n\nOften regarded as “Mr. Medfield History,” DeSorgher is a former teacher of social studies and English, long involved with the Medfield Historical Society and Massachusetts state commissions.\n\nA short report from officers of the Norwood Historical Society will be presented as a welcome to the event. All interested parties are welcome free of charge.",
